At mid of April 2007, this bluehost review website, hosted at bluehost.com is suddently running slow. And i notice it when i visit this site. Immediately i go to bluehost.com, and initiate the live chat with bluehost support team.

Informing them of the slowiness and downtime of my website. Within less than 5 minutes problem was identify. And after another 5 minutes, it was solved. Problem is caused by firewall at bluehost datacentre. I not sure what cause it, but some tweak to the firewall by the admin done the job. Now, my bluehost hosted website is running at full speed and i very HAPPY with the hosting and also support team.

If your Bluehost email is not supporting unicode character like: chinese, arabic, japanese, or indian characters. But showing unreadable symbols and sign, then its caused by charset problem at the php.ini file. You can fix this problem yourself.

FTP login to your server and locate the php.ini file. Edit the php.ini using notepad… and add in these lines.

[mbstring]
mbstring.language = Neutral
mbstring.internal_encoding = UTF-8
mbstring.http_input = UTF-8
mbstring.http_output = UTF-8
mbstring.encoding_translation = On
mbstring.detect_order = auto
mbstring.substitute_character = long;
mbstring.func_overload = 1

By this, your php email will now support unicode. Basically this method will fix most of the charset problem. However, if this don’t solve it, do contact bluehost support for assistant.

To those that are new to web hosting, and what should you do to upload or send your file to Bluehost Server. This will be your guide. Always use FTP, the only way to upload the files to server. The FTP manager is available at bluehost cpanel, no extra software require

Login to your Bluehost cpanel, and go to “Site Management”, and select “FTP Manager”. You can use any of the following:

• Java Applet FTP Client 
  Browse, manipulate, and transfer files between your local hard drive on your computer and the server.
• BlueHost.Com Drag & Drop FTP
  Pops up a new internet explorer window that will allow you to easily upload or download files between this computer and your web site. You may also rename, delete, or edit files on the server so use with caution! To upload, drag the file or folder into this window.

When you publishing your website online, always remember to ftp upload your file to folder “public_html/”. Not to other folder.

To lazy person like me that don’t like to remembering ftp login username and password, i will always use ftp client manager like cuteftp … and it support multithreaded ftp uploading.

Answer: You can host unlimited number of website/domains with bluehost $6.95 plan.
Yes, one domain is one website, for example yourwebsite1.com, yourwebsite2.com, yourwebsite3.com …  and so on

Bluehost domain pricing is $10 per year, however you can get cheaper domain from other registra like godaddy at price around $8-$9 per domain name per year :). After you register your domain with godaddy, change the Nameserver of the domain to bluehost name server, namely:

After that from bluehost cpanel control panel, go to addon domain, and add the new domain name to it. Wait for domain propagation, usually will be ready within a day or two

I found out that, at the control panel, the item/menu is grouped and well organised. I no need to go through one by one to look for what I want. A glance through the group title, and i know what its about. Looking the subitem is faster and easy to access. I think this is a good features that is not available at other cpanel host.

Today instead of using the usual Bluehost email support or live chat with support team, i try to give bluehost a call at their toll free numbers. Picked up the phone and dial (888) 401-4678”… and i get through, with a short IVR, i get to the support team. And i asked some question regarding upgrade to bluehost dedicated server. And now i got the answer for that already. Simple and fast.
