use the overwrite function to replace the server side files/folder with the given new one. Filezilla ftp software allows you to upload files to server easily.

for the dreamweaver and cs5 is local computer software (those you can optional install into your computer), its the default chosen software to edit webpage & image files. When you are editing the templates, you can use these two software from adobe. Unnecessary for publishing however.

Appreciate this blog.. My situation is that I want to use a purchased zencart template, upload it to bluehost so that I can work on it (not publish it just yet). But the instructions on which folder to upload it to are always vague or there are duplicate folder names (an includes folder one for zc admin as well as root directory). Second problem is the template says I must have dreamweaver, or CS5 photo software…does this mean I have to open up the file on my computer in these programs first, or that the host must have this software? Thank you in advance.

hi melojane,

i added a screenshot to above blog post, and you can see the file manager screenshot now. You need to login bluehost cpanel, then go to “Files” categories, and click on the “File Manager” to get to the file manager tool.

i strongly recommend you use ftp client software like cureftp or FileZilla software to upload download files from your bluehost hosting account.

I couldn’t find that “Site Management” and “FTP Manager.” I think I really need a professional help. I’ve been researching all day. I haven’t uploaded my site yet. Sigh…

hi Jonas,

for file manager, you can go to cpanel, and Files > File Manager. From here you can browse your account home directory. Make sure you are uploading files to /public_html directory. If you are using addon domain, upload files to the particular domain folder.

if you are not familiar with php or web templates… you can use wordpress blog (this site is created with wordpress)… easy installation from bluehost > simplescripts. No uploading or editing or html require. Hope this can help you to create a website the soonest.

Dear Bluehost

First and foremost I want to thank you for a great host service, I am very satisfied with you product. However, I do have one serious problem that I haven’t been able to solve for months despite reading tons od ‘how-to’ articles on uploading an HTML template (like the one above). I have at this stage not been able to install a single HTML template on my host, delaying my work for months. I am not sure what the problem is, but I hope you can give me a step-by-step introduction as the one above do not work (no ‘site manager’ section in my bluehost)

if you have a blog site like this one, what you need to do is login to phpmyadmin, and EXPORT the whole database to text file. Remember to select the option INSERT complete. You can find a guide online for this.

now, in the new hosting server, upload your blog files, and create a new MySQL database. setup your blog site first. Once done, go to phpmyadmin, and use the IMPORT feature, paste in the text you backup just now.

Done, the new database is import to new hosting.

Hi,

“To those that are new to web hosting, and what should you do to upload or send your file to Bluehost Server. This will be your guide. Always use FTP, the only way to upload the files to server”

What file are you talking about and how do you save it? I am confused about how to save my entire blog and then upload it. I feel like I need step by step instruction on how to save my entire blog. The Bluehost FAQ seems to skip this part.
