Another frequently ask question about Bluehost.com…
How many domain can hosted in bluehost hosting plan?

Answer: You can host unlimited number of website/domains with bluehost $6.95 plan.
Yes, one domain is one website, for example yourwebsite1.com, yourwebsite2.com, yourwebsite3.com …  and so on :)

Bluehost domain pricing is $10 per year, however you can get cheaper domain from other registra like godaddy at price around $8-$9 per domain name per year :) . After you register your domain with godaddy, change the Nameserver of the domain to bluehost name server, namely:

  • NS1.bluehost.com
  • NS2.bluehost.com

After that from bluehost cpanel control panel, go to addon domain, and add the new domain name to it. Wait for domain propagation, usually will be ready within a day or two :)

Thanks for this blog post – very interesting!

Ok, say my yourwebsite1.com was registered at 1and1.
I can change the name servers at 1and1.
And that then allows me to set up a yourwebsite1.com website at bluehost?

    This means I can have:

    ourwebsite1.com/about/index.html

    ourwebsite1.com/index.html etc?

    Just like a standard site?

    Sounds great!

And I can then repeat the process?

and do the same for yourwebsite2.com etc?

    Thank you

    Hi

    I hope you can help.

Can you have multiple ecommerce sites with blue host. Like a shopping site selling shoes and then another selling hats or would they all need seperate dedicated servers and ssl certificates for each?

    Thanks

    Mike

  4. Bluehost Review Says:

you can host multiple ecommerce websites in single bluehost hosting account.

SSL cert is require when you going to setup own https://www.yourdomain.com website… and this will require 1 dedicated IP point to your account, in this case you can only have one ecommerce site pointed with this IP.

Thanks for your post. I have similar questions, I hope you still check your blog :)

    1. What is a hosting account? Is it under my real name (e.g. John Doe) when I purchased the hosting service?

    2. Here is a scenario:
    a. When I purchased a hosting service at Bluehost, I also got a free domain with the purchase. Let’s say http://www.my1stdomainever.com. So I have the domain and the hosting account with Bluehost. Correct? If I want to buy another domain, let’s say http://www.my2nddomainever.com and host it at Bluehost, do I have to buy another hosting service?

    b. I also purchased a third domain somewhere else (e.g. form Go Daddy). My domain is http://www.my3rddomainever.com. Can I host it at Bluehost without purchasing a new hosting service at Bluehost? What are the steps to take? Transferring/migrating the domain from Go Daddy to Bluehost etc.?

    Thanks.

  6. Bluehost Review Says:

your hosting account is registered under your name, its your account and your property which you can gain access to control panel.

when you signup with bluehost, you get one free domain name for life, and the hosting account is included off course. If you want to add new domain name, you can register new domain name (only) there is no need to register another hosting account. Host multiple domain names in one hosting account at bluehost hosting.

you can register domain name from any domain registrar company, and point the domain DNS to bluehost dns, hence you are able to host your website at bluehost hosting. Transfering domain name is an optional choice, you can do it or without it.

Hello, I have a bluehost account and I purchased a domain for my friend using the domain manager in BH, my friend has a different hosting provider is this just OK? Please advice thanks!

  8. Bluehost Review Says:

you can register domain name, and later change the domain DNS to point to external server and host the website there.

since you are the one registering the domain name, you will be the owner for the domain. Manage it under your bluehost domain manager.

  9. MellyMel Says:

    Hello,

I have site1 hosted with bluehost, and site2 which I have just transferred from another host to bluehost. I see that we can host unlimited domains using bluehost, but when attempting to add site2 to the cpanel, it only offers 2 options: 1) to open a new account or 2) assign site2 to the cpanel for site1. If I choose 2) and assign site2 to the cpanel, my addon is now site2.site1.com, which is too long and repetitive since the domains are similar.

Is there a way I can make site2 the primary domain rather than an add-on domain to site1, without purchasing additional service or transferring hosts?

Ideally I would like site2 domain name to be the primary and site1 to be the secondary add-on, only because my ftp files are already there. Thanks so much in advance!

  10. Rob Says:

    I’m still not totally clear.

Right now I have the $6.95/month plan for one domain and website.

I want to set up a totally new site – new domain + new files etc.

I want the new domain to resolve to http://www.newdomain.com, ie no redirects.

Do I need an entirely new plan or can I add it to my current plan and just pay for the additional domain?

    Thanks!

  11. Bluehost Review Says:

One bluehost account give you multiple domain hosting, no redirect.
Your addon domain name will be pointed to your http://www.newdomain.com

login bluehost cpanel, use the “ADDON DOMAIN” to add new domain to your account. And later upload the newdomain files to the /public_html/newdomain/

  14. anna Says:

    hi,

I recently purchased a hosting account at bluehost.com but I can’t figure out how can I host multiple domains. I’ve used the add on option but now I have the same content on all my websites. For example, I have installed Joomla on the primary domain and on other 2 websites but when I try to put something on site1 the exact thing appears on site 2 and 3 too. When I delete something on site 1 the exact thing is erased from site 2 and site 3.
I want to use joomla for all my websites but with a different content and template. How can I do that?
    Can you please help me?

    Anna

    excellent posting.
now here’s where it gets tricky.

i have two domains, a bluehost hosted one (www.domain1.com) and a non-bluehost one (www.domain2.com). currently i can’t move domain2.com to bluehost but can’t get email where it is. is there anyway i can use my bluehost account to provide email accounts for domain2.com while i’m waiting to be able to move domain2.com to BH?

  17. Bluehost Review Says:

since domain2.com is with third party domain registrar, its only possible to edit it via their control panel.

do a whois check on your domain2.com, and you will find your personal details in it (unless its with domain privacy activated). Once you have the email attached to the domain, you can retrieve the password from the respective registrar.

Thanks a million for this, I appreciate the info
