One bluehost account give you multiple domain hosting, no redirect.
Your addon domain name will be pointed to your www.newdomain.com

login bluehost cpanel, use the "ADDON DOMAIN" to add new domain to your account. And later upload the newdomain files to the /public_html/newdomain/

I'm still not totally clear.

Right now I have the $6.95/month plan for one domain and website.

I want to set up a totally new site - new domain + new files etc.

I want the new domain to resolve to www.newdomain.com, ie no redirects.

Do I need an entirely new plan or can I add it to my current plan and just pay for the additional domain?

Thanks!

Hello,

I have site1 hosted with bluehost, and site2 which I have just transferred from another host to bluehost. I see that we can host unlimited domains using bluehost, but when attempting to add site2 to the cpanel, it only offers 2 options: 1) to open a new account or 2) assign site2 to the cpanel for site1. If I choose 2) and assign site2 to the cpanel, my addon is now site2.site1.com, which is too long and repetitive since the domains are similar.

Is there a way I can make site2 the primary domain rather than an add-on domain to site1, without purchasing additional service or transferring hosts?

Ideally I would like site2 domain name to be the primary and site1 to be the secondary add-on, only because my ftp files are already there. Thanks so much in advance!

you can register domain name, and later change the domain DNS to point to external server and host the website there.

since you are the one registering the domain name, you will be the owner for the domain. Manage it under your bluehost domain manager.

your hosting account is registered under your name, its your account and your property which you can gain access to control panel.

when you signup with bluehost, you get one free domain name for life, and the hosting account is included off course. If you want to add new domain name, you can register new domain name (only) there is no need to register another hosting account. Host multiple domain names in one hosting account at bluehost hosting.

you can register domain name from any domain registrar company, and point the domain DNS to bluehost dns, hence you are able to host your website at bluehost hosting. Transfering domain name is an optional choice, you can do it or without it.

Thanks for your post. I have similar questions, I hope you still check your blog :)

1. What is a hosting account? Is it under my real name (e.g. John Doe) when I purchased the hosting service?

2. Here is a scenario:
a. When I purchased a hosting service at Bluehost, I also got a free domain with the purchase. Let's say www.my1stdomainever.com. So I have the domain and the hosting account with Bluehost. Correct? If I want to buy another domain, let's say www.my2nddomainever.com and host it at Bluehost, do I have to buy another hosting service?

b. I also purchased a third domain somewhere else (e.g. form Go Daddy). My domain is www.my3rddomainever.com. Can I host it at Bluehost without purchasing a new hosting service at Bluehost? What are the steps to take? Transferring/migrating the domain from Go Daddy to Bluehost etc.?

Thanks.

you can host multiple ecommerce websites in single bluehost hosting account.

SSL cert is require when you going to setup own https://www.yourdomain.com website... and this will require 1 dedicated IP point to your account, in this case you can only have one ecommerce site pointed with this IP.
