I've been able to track down the downtime to problems with the server. As soon as I discover the problem, I do try to ping the connection and get nothing. The CPanel goes down also. I then contact Bluehost support to find out what's what and they usually give me a run-around and an approximate time for the problem being fixed.

Thanks for such a quick response!

you can subscribe to serviceuptime.com free monitoring service to monitor and alert you via email on website failure. When you detect the downtime, quickly perform and tracert www.yourdomain.com and see the ping result. Make sure the problem is not local or caused by ISP, and then you can initiate a live chat with bluehost support to get the problem identified.

its important to have bluehost support team to regenerate the same error, so they know whats & where went wrong... and so they can get it fixed. Else the problem will reoccur over and over again without being identified at all. Give it a try :)

Sadly that hasn't lasted through Jan 2009. Today Jan 12 it has been up and down all day mostly down. Even there own from page wasn't coming up for a while.
Right now for 3+ hours all of our domains are down.
Don't know if they have a bad switch again or maybe a raid failure on our server or what, but trace routes reach them then die. There were 40 people in the queue when I tried to call tech support.
Let's see your graph at the end of this month :)
