This bluehost review blog has been hosted with bluehost.com since 4 months back. This four long monts, i had been reviewing bluehost hosting in most details, and explore deep into their hosting service and also cpanel control panel. I got myself sign up blue host, and trying to experience this hosting myself, and so i can write a true review about bluehost.
I had a great time with bluehost, and this bluehostreview.org is running fine and with great uptime. I am happy with it, and had recommended it to few of my IT friends. They like it as well. Especially the unlimited number of websites hosting with bluehost $6.95 plan. Ya, i having few websites running in this bluehost plan as well. And from the cpanel screenshot below, you can see that i am using 2 addon domains. Meaning i having other 2 websites setup here. Other than that, i also uses 3 mysql database, ftp account, and email account as well.

This is how the actual bluehost hosting cpanel will look like. And its extremely simple to use. On the top you can see the microsoft adcentre $50 free ppc credits, and also yahoo search marketing $50 free credits. You can sign up on them and claim the credits as well.
For a trial run on the bluehost cpanel, you can use this bluehost hosting’s cpanel trial site http://www.bluehost.com/dm/main_cp.html?domain=blewhost.com&ldomain=blewhost.com&lpass=demo123
Note that some features is not available in the demo run. You will need to sign up to get the full features.

Bluehost hosting is started to implementing the fastcgi into their hosting server. Pass few days, i notice the bluehost server that i am using, is updated with the fastcgi as well. I am pretty new to fastcgi thing and have to do some homework here to find out more about it, and how to utilise it.
From bluehost cpanel , under web server config menu, you will find “fastcgi acceleration”. And this will bring you to the fastcgi activation or deactivation page as following:

“FastCGI for PHP makes all your PHP applications run through mod_fastcgi instead of mod_phpsusexec. This eliminates the overhead of loading the PHP interpretor on every hit. Since it is always in memory ready for the next hit, the responses will be generated faster. NO MODIFICATIONS to your existing PHP applications will be performed so you can easily enable and disable it at will.”
And what wiki said about fastcgi? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FastCGI
“FastCGI is a protocol for interfacing interactive programs with a web server. FastCGI is a variation on the earlier Common Gateway Interface (CGI); FastCGI’s main aim is to reduce the overhead associated with interfacing the web server and CGI programs, allowing a server to handle more web page requests at once.”
Seem like the fastcgi is utilizing memory or cache in correct word. As the pages are buffered and ready for next hit. By this, the page loaded faster. This fastcgi feature will be useful for php application such as ruby on rails.
If you need it, activate it. If want to switch back, its simply uncheck the “enable bluehost fastCGI”.

Bluehost hosting control panel is ‘Cpanel X’. Its a very easy and simple to use control panel. I took less than 5 minutes to get familiar with the controls, icons, and menu navigation. Everything is clean and well organised. And everything is in plain simple english.

Go to Bluehost.com homepage, and use the top right login box to login to your cpanel. Enter in your login name and password to your hosting plan. This will bring you to the control panel. On the left side is my bluehost account general informations:
| Hosting package |
Platinum Pak |
| Account Expiration |
323 days |
| Shared Ip Address |
69.89.27.234 |
| Subdomains |
5 / 999 |
| Parked Domains |
0 / 999 |
| Addon Domains |
5 / 999 |
| MySQL Databases |
6 / 50 |
| Postgre Databases |
0 / 50 |
On the bottom right corner is the system tools. Very useful tools that i will going to show you in short future, but now i only going to give you a preview of it only:
Frontpage Extensions
SSH/Shell Access
Backup
Process Manager
SSL Manager
Manage OpenPGP Keys
Disk usage
Cron jobs
Network Tools
Search Engine Submit
I found out that, at the control panel, the item/menu is grouped and well organised. I no need to go through one by one to look for what I want. A glance through the group title, and i know what its about. Looking the subitem is faster and easy to access. I think this is a good features that is not available at other cpanel host.
